Council adopts municipal code changes to update land-use regulations

On second and final reading the council approved Ordinance 705-2025 to repeal and replace select sections of Title 15 of the Rangely Municipal Code. The ordinance updates land-use code sections the town described as out-of-date and intended to support current planning needs.
During the public hearing council members asked whether the changes were mandated by state regulations. Town Manager Lisa and others explained the Mesa planners assisted with the updates; Lisa said, "Our most of our municipal code hasn't been changed since 2006, and this just fit into the land use code." The council adopted the ordinance by motion and voice vote.
Council members indicated the code changes are intended to make the town's regulations more current and to position the town to apply for planning resources, including a potential fast-track planning grant.
