Nance County Board of Equalization upholds most valuation protests; two adjustments approved

The Nance County Board of Equalization heard and resolved a series of property valuation protests during its July 14 meeting. Protest outcomes recorded in the minutes show the Board generally followed the County Assessor's recommendations: motions to "stand as assessed per County Assessor's Recommendation" were entered for multiple protests (including #1, #2, #3, #5, #6, and #7). For Protest #3 the roll call recorded an abstention by Darren Nelson; for Protest #6 Ralph Horacek voted no while the motion still carried by majority.
Two protests resulted in adjustments. For Protest #4, the Board approved an adjustment to tree acres, changing the acreage from 38.46 to 71.26 after a motion by Ralph Horacek and second by Steve Crouse. For Protest #8 the Board approved a valuation change to $233,790 (motion by Horacek, second by Crouse). The July 14 minutes state that, "Moved by Horacek and seconded by Crouse to adjust the valuation to $233,790." The minutes also note the Assessor reviewed cemetery property and reported no ownership or use changes for county cemeteries.
