Construction hours, dust controls and generator tests outlined for dispatch center project

Residents asked about construction hours, weekend work, dust and late-night equipment that might affect sleep and daily life. Tekton said typical construction hours follow zoning limits (commonly 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.) and noted that toward the end of projects contractors sometimes request weekend work but such requests can be limited by contract and zoning.
On dust and erosion Tekton told the meeting, "the contractor is gonna be required to maintain dust controls during, especially during earthwork," and said they would require watering and other controls while soils are moved. Saladin suggested giving neighbors a point of contact and the contractor will be told to be a "good neighbor" during construction and to monitor controls.
Tekton said the building will include a diesel generator located at the rear of the site; the generator will cycle weekly for "about 15, 20 minutes or so" and can be scheduled during daytime hours. The generator will be housed in an acoustic enclosure similar to existing municipal units, which designers said will reduce overall sound compared with a residential unit. The committee advised residents to bring any permit-hour concerns to Planning & Zoning.
