New EMS base includes simulation suite for hands-on paramedic training

Trevor Keys described the station’s training facilities as central to maintaining clinical skills. He said the base includes a living-room–style simulation room with 360-degree camera coverage and a full sequence from on-scene care to ambulance loading and simulated hospital handoff.
"We have a simulation room that we can rotate out. It's more like a living room setting... We have the cameras 3 60 that we can view, and then we can... have a mannequin that can... do a lot of things other than the call," Keys said. County leaders said the facility will be used to train new EMTs and paramedics and to run scenario-based drills that mirror real patient encounters.
Medical director Dr. Snyder emphasized the station’s importance to crew morale and professional development, saying such stations become focal points for paramedics on long shifts and for interagency training with fire and hospital partners.
