Board authorizes staff to begin principal hiring process

At the Feb. 3 meeting the board authorized district staff to begin the initial stages of hiring a principal: drafting a job description, posting the vacancy, and convening a screening committee. The chair asked that the committee mirror the superintendent search model and include administrative staff, certified staff representation from elementary, middle and high school, support staff, parents and a student representative.
Board members emphasized the superintendent should lead the process and that the screening committee should be representative of district stakeholders. The motion to authorize staff to proceed passed by voice vote; staff will return recommendations to the board in subsequent meetings.
