Representatives of the county animal shelter presented intake and service data to the board and asked for a $10,000 county contribution. The presenters reported that since January they had taken in approximately 42 cats and 26 dogs and had completed roughly 70 spay/neuter procedures through a program that relies on grant funds and discounted veterinary services. "So far, we've taken in since the 1st of the year... 42 cats and 26 dogs," one shelter representative said.
