Committee opens first work session on Clarksburg Gateway Sector Plan

The Planning, Housing and Parks Committee opened the first work session for the Clarksburg Gateway Sector Plan and asked staff to walk through the work plan and schedule for future meetings. Planning staff said neighborhood recommendations will be moved to a later session and that more plan‑wide recommendations will return to the committee on February 11.

Planning staff summarized the plan’s purpose: "to revisit some of the prior goals for this community and call attention to those that remain unfulfilled," including employment centers, transit improvements and community facilities, and said the draft contains a concept framework and design illustrations for future development. Staff noted extensive outreach (kickoff July 2023, door‑to‑door canvassing, four listening sessions and four workshops) and highlighted resident priorities such as better pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure, more transit options and community facilities.

Committee members and planning staff agreed on the session structure: plan‑wide topics today, neighborhood recommendations later. Staff said detailed zoning changes will be covered in the neighborhood section to make review easier for the public.
