County explains Know My Zone evacuation tool and when to leave

Kelly Wilson walked listeners through the Know My Zone evacuation tool hosted on the St. Johns County Emergency Management website and described how it helps residents identify their lettered evacuation zone by address.
"Enter your St. Johns County address...and it will tell you exactly what zone it is," Wilson said. She explained zones are lettered and that, if officials call for evacuation of a particular zone, residents in that zone should gather their kits and evacuate. Wilson advised families to prepare shelter kits in advance and to register special medical‑needs in order to access medical‑needs shelters if required.
She emphasized that knowing your zone is one of the "first and easiest steps to preparedness" and directed listeners to the county site for the zone lookup tool.
