The Detroit Budget Committee voted unanimously to approve the proposed 2026–2027 budget on May 7, 2026. Committee Chair Denny Nielsen opened the motion; Councilor O'Donnell moved to approve the proposed/amended budget and Councilor Smith seconded. The minutes record the vote as “All in favor” and that the motion passed unanimously, with Councilor Greg Sheppard absent with notice.
