Pete characterized the resolution as procedural: "This is the first step that the board has to take in order for us to notify our bargaining units of potential for cuts to personnel, reduction in force as well as program adjustments based on revenue," he said. Trustees discussed the motion briefly and approved it by voice vote.
Board members emphasized the preliminary nature of the step and repeated that identified reductions are not final recommendations. The action authorizes administration to continue planning and begin required notifications under collective bargaining rules.
