State amendment, senator support could bring Millis $65,000 for math curriculum and additional per-student funding

Superintendent Bob Malaney told the committee that an amendment to the state FY27 supplemental budget, supported by state Senator Becca Rausch, would provide Millis with $65,000 for math curriculum work and professional development. "This $65,000 will allow us to continue that and go deeper," Malaney said, describing ongoing work by the district math committee.
Malaney also noted a separate governor’s supplemental proposal tied to a fair-share amendment that would allocate roughly $112 per student statewide; he said that, if the proposal passes as currently described, "for Millis, that would mean an extra $130,000 in funding from the state." The district has sent letters of support to local legislators and the Mass. Association of School Superintendents is advocating prompt distribution of any passed funds to districts.
Committee members asked whether the district should send formal thank-you notes to legislators who helped secure funds; Malaney said he routinely communicates with legislators and can provide contact details if the committee chooses to send a formal note.
