Public works previews multiple road projects and staffing update

Public works and engineering staff provided a run‑down of near‑term projects and a personnel update. Michael Pierce said Pat Huritz has retired and Leslie Booth has been hired to support Board of Public Works items. He listed project start windows and milestones: Mule Barn Road reconstruction expected to start on or after Aug. 3; the first phase of the 191st Street widening and roundabout slated for late August; Penn Street extension from East Street to Hillcrest Drive beginning in August; and a traffic signal at Grand Park Boulevard and Tournament Trail expected to be powered and finished in about a month to a month and a half.
Pierce also described construction sequencing and detour planning for Grand Park and noted ongoing coordination with Grand Park leadership, including biweekly meetings to phase work and manage traffic impacts. The board asked a few procedural questions and the public works director indicated staff will continue to update members as projects advance.
