Altamont council approves revised storm procedures, adds secondary command post

The Altamont City Council on July 9 approved revisions to the city’s storm procedures that establish a secondary command post location at Cowboy Way Western Church and add a dedicated operational radio frequency for emergency communications.
City Administrator Myers presented the changes and outlined how the secondary command post would be used when the primary location is unavailable. Councilmember Tyler Julich moved to adopt the revised procedures and Councilmember Zachary Sellars seconded; the motion carried. The updates will be incorporated into the city’s emergency-response protocols and made available for future incidents.
The revisions were described as operational adjustments rather than policy changes requiring ordinance action. City staff will publish the updated procedures for use in upcoming storm seasons and as part of the emergency response plan under city review.
