Dolores County approves updated ADA demand-response plan for senior services

Dolores County commissioners voted to approve an updated ADA Demand Response Compliance Plan for the county’s Senior Services program. The plan changes the previous paratransit-oriented document into a demand-response compliance plan and adds items identified during a recent site visit.
The presenter said the revisions were largely incremental: “So we’ve always had an ADA plan... we don’t provide per se paratransit, like, on fixed route. So we’d have to change it to demand response compliance plan and then added some stuff that was found in our site visit that needed to be added into it.” Commissioners discussed the plan’s reasonable-modification policy, which the presenter summarized as committing to accommodate riders with disabilities so long as the requested modification does not change the program’s essential services. One commissioner praised staff oversight, saying, “You do a really good job of watching that aspect for sure.”
Board members moved and seconded approval of the plan. After brief confirmation that regional reviewers and CDOT had reviewed the draft, the board voted unanimously to adopt the plan and signed it during the meeting. The county clerk will retain the signed document and staff said the plan will guide accommodations for senior-services demand-response trips going forward.
