Council adjusts Planning Commission terms as city updates development code

City Recorder Michelle Connor told the council that, because the city is in the middle of updating its Development Code, all seven Planning Commission terms inadvertently align to expire on Dec. 31, 2025. To maintain continuity while the code update proceeds, Connor said the council decided that commissioners with more than two years' service who wish to stay on would receive one‑year reappointments; newer commissioners who wish to continue would receive two‑year appointments.
The council did not vote on specific names at the Sept. 9 meeting; the approach described by Connor is an administrative decision about term lengths and staggered continuity during the code revision process. Councilors asked staff to confirm appointment paperwork and timing and to return names for formal approval as reappointments are processed.
