MPO to publish transit–housing accessibility heat map scoring locations 1–100
The Ithaca Tompkins County Transportation Council said it is partnering with a UK firm to publish a transit–housing accessibility index that will map county locations by travel-time access to services and produce a 1–100 score to inform land-use and transit planning.

Tom Knight told the board the council has contracted with a UK-based company to produce a transit–housing accessibility index — a heat map that measures travel-time access by transit across the county and assigns a score from 1 to 100. "It's gonna be a heat map for transit accessibility... and then... gives you a score, 1 to a 100," Knight said, adding that a second version to capture bike accessibility is planned.
