Takoma Park Library reports strong first-year circulation; small county increase supported
Takoma Park Library told the committee its new building (opened Sept. 15, 2025) recorded more than 47,000 checkouts and thousands of program attendees; council staff recommended an $17,780 operating increase based on county code and the committee approved it without objection.

A Takoma Park Library representative reported the new facility’s first-year usage and thanked county partners for support. "We've been open about 7 months. We opened 09/15/2025. We've checked out more than 47,000 items," the representative said, and added that the library created more than 1,800 new accounts and hosted roughly 200 programs with about 5,000 attendees.
