Library director lays out summer reading, One Book events and author visit

Summit County Library staff outlined summer programming including a June 1—Aug. 15 summer-reading season, community events in June, and a July 29 author visit at Park City Library's Jim Santee auditorium.
The Summit County Library announced its summer schedule and community programming for June through July.
Library Director Dan said summer reading runs June 1 through Aug. 15 and is open to children, teens and adults via the Beanstack app. "The goal this year is for kids to read every day, and with the ultimate goal of having them read for 50 days during the summer," Dan said, describing sticker-based paper trackers and a prize-wall ticket system that awards virtual tickets and bonus tickets for completing the challenge.
Dan also described a series of community events: a talk by a university professor on forests and climate (June 4), a fire-resilient landscaping class (June 10), a family-focused safety fair at Kimball Junction (June 28 from about 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.) with a bookmobile and Spanish-language assistance, and an author event featuring John Valiant on July 29 at 7 p.m. in the Jim Santee auditorium at Park City Library.
The board noted the schedule conflicts with fall break in Park City for some events and discussed outreach strategies to maximize attendance.
