Champaign County board tables resolution calling for county clerk's resignation
The Champaign County Board voted to table a resolution asking for the county clerk's resignation until July 2027 after debate over due process and board authority. A later attempt to reconsider the tabling failed on a roll call.

The Champaign County Board on July 23 considered Resolution 2026-174, a nonbinding measure asking the county clerk to resign amid federal indictments involving the clerk and family members. The motion to adopt the resolution was moved by Wilson and seconded by Sexton; instead of a final vote on the resolution itself, Member Arias successfully moved to table it to the July 2027 board meeting, and the motion to table carried by voice vote.
