"It means that we can enforce it with law enforcement," the Chair said during debate, adding that the posting is intended to protect taxpayers' dollars and maintain safe access for emergency vehicles. Tom and others discussed a cooperative approach with vendors and fuel dealers to limit deliveries during posted periods and noted exemptions for emergency services. The motion was moved and seconded and carried by voice vote.
Board members also discussed outreach to local haulers and vendors so deliveries can be scheduled before roads are posted. Tom suggested the road commissioner decide specific dates for postings rather than the Select Board deciding case‑by‑case; the board approved that approach with instruction that postings be reported to the State DOT.
