The Alcester City Council approved a contract to engage a building code enforcement officer on a retainer and fee-for-service basis to provide inspections and code-enforcement work. Staff explained the contract mirrors an arrangement used by neighboring Beersburg and would report to the finance officer; committee members said they expect more-efficient handling of persistent property-maintenance issues.
