County board reviews $2.9 million KONE modernization proposal for jail elevators

The chair opened discussion of repairs and possible replacement of up to three elevators at the County Detention Center after the board introduced a KONE modernization proposal of roughly $2.9 million.
"They submitted to us June 1, which is the $2,910,000 for modernization of all 3 of those elevators," said Tim Kimrey, who introduced the background and prior estimates. Donald Brassy, maintenance director with the county jail, told the board KONE resubmitted a bid that rose to $2,900,000 and that the proposal is valid for 30 days and sets installation to begin in 2027 if approved.
