EASTHAM — Commissioners asked staff to circulate Eastham parcel-level overlays showing MCFRM 2050 flood extents alongside the town’s current 100-foot buffer so members can see where mapped changes would affect properties.
Shannon Holst demonstrated the 2050 MCFRM map for Eastham and highlighted hashed areas that represent modest expansions of the FEMA floodplain. Chair Karen Strauss said the town’s existing 100-foot buffer appeared similar to the MCFRM 2050 footprint in many places and asked staff and presenters to produce a layered map for the next work session. Commissioner Hillary and others volunteered to locate the GIS files and requested that the planning/GIS analyst re-share the ESRI maps for commission review.
The commission agreed the overlays will inform decisions about which regulatory options (bylaw expansion of jurisdiction, adoption of design flood elevation, or buffer-based rules) to include in the draft bylaw and regulations.
