The Hamilton County Board of Zoning Appeals approved a variance to reduce the side-yard setback to permit replacement of an existing barn at 25496 Cornell Road in Arcadia.
Owner John McNamee said the current barn and attached sunroom are aging and the new building will reuse the existing footprint (about 39 by 40 feet) with minor changes, emphasizing the project is primarily an aesthetic improvement. McNamee said the south side setback would remain the same as the existing structure: "It'll be the exact same footprint."
Board members noted upgrades are improvements and that, had the ordinance not changed in 2022, the owner might not have needed to seek a variance. A motion to approve the petition was made and the board voted in favor; the variance was approved as presented.
