Wildfire mitigation, local Fire Safe Councils and tribal collaboration topped LAPAC discussion on hazards and natural‑resource management. Members recommended county support for establishing and maintaining Fire Safe Councils, a neighborhood right‑of‑entry program for chipping/abatement, and policies that favor local vegetation management practices in collaboration with tribes. One member explained many parcels are remote and owner absenteeism makes neighbor‑assisted abatement useful if backed by permissions: "some sort of support of a... permission of... it's a hold harmless" for neighbor‑to‑neighbor work.

Committee members also urged integrating tribal cultural‑resource protections into area plans, including view‑sheds and cultural-burn practices. Staff said the county is working to revive the Heritage Commission and to include tribal consultation in planning, noting recent state legislation that strengthens protection of tribal cultural resources. The LAPAC recommended objectives that combine wildfire hazard reduction with cultural-resource preservation where practicable.
