Payson planning commission backs general plan amendments to clarify density language

Staff told the commission the relevant general plan language (pages 60–62) would be amended to focus on appropriate zoning rather than numeric units-per-acre, reflecting the original anticipated density in the 2020 general plan. A motion to recommend the general plan amendment to City Council was seconded and adopted with no opposition.
Commissioners discussed that the Spring Creek plan is newer and needs less change, while the South Meadows plan (older than the general plan) had more staff-recommended edits because it often used units-per-acre in land-use maps. No members of the public testified on the general plan item during the commission hearing.
