Bridgewater CPC finds Leaching Field adaptive play proposal eligible

The Community Preservation Committee on Wednesday declared an adaptive play-area proposal at Leaching Field eligible for CPC funding and recommended the town manager’s office and Parks & Rec prepare a formal application.

Applicant Sherry described a proposed fenced, accessible area near Williams Intermediate School that would prioritize ages 8–11 and children with mobility or communication needs. She said the initial site concept would carve out “about a 6,000 square foot, triangular, area” adjacent to the cafeteria and bus loop and emphasized fences and surfacing suitable for students who might elope or need wheelchair access.

Committee members supported the eligibility motion, with one member noting it met both recreation and creation criteria of the CPC’s four-category framework. The committee voted by roll call to accept eligibility and asked staff to route the application through the town manager’s office, gather pricing and letters of support, and coordinate with Parks & Rec and relevant commissions.
