District rolls out multi-factor authentication and reports few account compromises
Technology staff told the board the district implemented a new identity system that gives K–2 students badge login and grades 3–12 a pictogram-based multifactor option; staff reported only about three account compromise incidents since rollout.

The district technology presenter described a year-long project to migrate accounts to a centralized identity system and roll out multi-factor authentication to protect student and staff accounts. For younger students the system uses Chromebooks with a badge that logs them in; grades 3–12 use a pictogram as a simple form of multifactor authentication, and staff use six-digit codes or optional security keys.
