The Junction Commons team presented renderings and described a change in the site’s use from an auto-oriented outlet center to a walkable mixed-use node centered on plazas and public amenities. The lower lot will contain a central gathering plaza and amphitheater, and the upper residential area will include playgrounds, a pool and shared open space; the applicant also plans multimodal features, including two county e-bike stations and a transit plaza converging at a central public area.
Commissioners asked whether public restrooms could be incorporated into Building B near the bus stop; an applicant representative said restaurants will provide restrooms but that developer would consider siting a public restroom in Building B or an adjacent building and could include wayfinding signage and accessible plaza amenities in the development agreement. The applicant emphasized that exterior materials and public amenities will be consistent across affordable and market-rate buildings so residents cannot be visually distinguished by building treatment.
