A county official told the board that the original appointment process for the fire district "was originally flawed, and, the appointments that were made were not made correctly" under state law, and recommended re-running the appointment process rather than trying to shortcut it.
He said the county is asking trustees to submit trustee-application forms (name, email, phone, home and mailing addresses) and that he would like to leave the meeting with a number of those forms completed. The official said he recommends reappointing trustees through the proper application and consent process with the county council rather than attempting an administrative shortcut.
