Prairie Creek disc-golf work underway; county expects major elements by October

Nate from county conservation updated the board that construction work at Prairie Creek began last week, with baskets, pads and earthwork currently underway and subcontracting by Alvalia. He said the contractor plans bridge placement next month and that the overall schedule points to most elements being in place by October.
"Last time I talked to Shrader sometime next month probably is the bridge placement... I'm thinking October will have most things set and kinda complete," Nate told supervisors. He said some finishing items like seating may follow and suggested planning a ribbon cutting no earlier than mid-October to allow for hiccups.
Nate also flagged a $20,000 line item for railroad-tie steps in the plans and said engineers are open to using graded slopes instead to avoid long-term maintenance costs. Board members pressed on staffing and mowing for course maintenance; Nate said the county may assign a seasonal employee and explore volunteer support, but county insurance and training requirements could limit volunteer mower use.
