Board debates renaming 'pilot project' policy and sets plan for instructional‑materials reconsideration process

During an extended policy review, board members agreed the current policy language describing curricular trials should better distinguish a local pilot project from a controlled instructional experiment. Board members also reviewed the district’s instructional‑materials reconsideration policy, which calls for a nine‑member committee (five community members, a student, a librarian, a teacher and an administrative designee). Members debated whether the committee should be final arbiter or advisory to the superintendent; several favored establishing the committee and making its written decision final for that year while preserving appeal rights to place the matter on a future board agenda.
