The Houston County Commission approved a one-time lump-sum payment to county retirees under revisions described in the transcript as “section 2 action act 608 of the regular session of 2026 legislature,” to be paid in August 2026 and funded by a $50,322.20 budget amendment. Chair (speaker 1) introduced the resolution; “Motion by mister Herring, and that has been seconded by commissioner Adams,” the Chair said during the meeting.
