The Calhoun County Commissioners Court considered and adopted Resolution R-4-20P6 to rename a local VA clinic in honor of Master Sergeant Raul R. Benavides. Chair read the resolution text, recounting Benavides' actions during a 1968 battle for which he was later awarded the Medal of Honor. The chair said the renaming "will better reflect the values of courage, sacrifice, and service" and that the change had been reviewed and supported by neighboring county officials.
