County approves Arcosa sole-source finding and one-year purchase authorization for lightweight aggregate

Purchasing reported that Arcosa Lightweight remains the recommended sole-source provider for lightweight aggregate grades 3, 4 and 5, citing a proprietary 2,000-degree rotary-kiln production process. "Arcosa aggregates is still being recommended as a sole source provider," the director of purchasing said. The court approved the sole-source exemption (item 2.4) and then authorized a one-year purchasing arrangement (item 2.5) so Road & Bridge can begin using the material quickly.
Purchasing said it will update and distribute bid-book pricing once the authorization is approved; commissioners approved both items unanimously.
