Board hears data on middle-school reading gaps; district using Read180 and IXL

At the board meeting Jamie presented grade-level diagnostic charts using DIBELS and IXL and said the district had identified students for Read180 intensive intervention, limited by the number of program licenses.
Jamie explained the district's approach: "We did DIBELS testing and then we used IXL diagnostics to get multiple data points," and described a Read180 placement model that rotates students through teacher-led, independent and computer-adaptive stations. The presentation noted that the district had 20 Read180 licenses per grade level and that staff planned diagnostic rechecks in January and at the end of the school year to measure growth.
Superintendent added that because the middle school remains on state watch the district is "highly considering doubling the number of licenses" to serve more students, and the board discussed the trade-off between licenses and cost.
