Parker County approves extra transfer for Historical Commission

Finance staff told the court the budget currently includes a $24,000 transfer from the general fund while the Historical Commission requested $35,750, meaning an additional $11,750 would be required if the court funds the full request.
“We have an amazing heritage, and we love to promote it,” McClurkin said, outlining the commission’s market‑day displays, visitor outreach and partnerships with local museums. Staff noted travel and conference expenses, and that the commission previously provided a $5,000 county‑funded donation toward restoration of a historic Millsap log‑cabin post office project.
Commissioner Walden moved to approve the commission’s request; Commissioner Holt seconded. The court discussed whether the $5,000 referenced was a matching grant or a straight contribution and confirmed the source as commission funds. The motion carried 5–0. The approved transfer will be reflected in the FY2024–25 budget documents and staff will update rollovers and appropriation lines accordingly.
