Court appoints Rashad Moore as interim public works director amid public concerns raised at comment period
After a public comment urging a competitive hiring process and alleging unresolved racist and unfair hiring practices, Lubbock County Commissioners voted to appoint Rashad Moore as interim public works director; the appointment carried with no recorded opposition.

A member of the public, John Shipley, told the court he opposed appointing an interim Road & Bridge director without a public hiring process. "There has been some racist allegations brought up and they haven't been addressed," Shipley said, adding that he had reapplied for county work and urged posting the job with interviews rather than a direct appointment.
