Commissioners debate $14.5M transfer and fund reclassification for road and bridge work

Aug 5, 2025

The road and bridge engineer and the judge disagreed over a proposed reclassification to reduce a planned $14,496,200.91 transfer from the general fund; the engineer proposed creating a new local capital maintenance fund to shift about $3,149,500 and reduce the general‑fund drawdown, while the judge emphasized continuing capital paving work.

The full story

The road and bridge engineer told the court that reclassifying certain GL lines into a new Fund 201 (local capital maintenance) would reduce the immediate general‑fund transfer needed to keep capital road programs running next year. He estimated that moving GL20380/4390 into Fund 201 would save roughly $3,149,500 against the $14,496,200.91 the court had been planning to draw from the general fund.
