Staff told the board the county’s request-for-proposals process is complete, the board recommended an award, and the county commission approved a contract with Federal Engineering to conduct a comprehensive radio-system study for Elko County. Lee said he had a pre-meeting scheduled with the project manager and that Federal Engineering’s contract targets completion by the end of the calendar year.
The consultant will inventory existing public-safety radio infrastructure, contact stakeholders including the TV district, Bureau of Land Management, Forest Service and municipal agencies, and assess coverage and future needs. Staff said more details will be provided as Federal Engineering begins stakeholder outreach and field assessment work.
