Officials suggested recruiting high-school students for internships to assist with digital mapping, data entry and social media as a low-cost way to support community engagement and expose students to civic work.

A commissioner raised a proposal from a local high school asking for opportunities for students to serve and gain experience with county planning work. The idea was framed as an internship model rather than mentorship: one participant suggested, "Send us 5 kids a week...and let somebody start developing" data and social media work to support planning staff.
