Board approves 3% increase for Elite Recycling, will reconsider asset purchase later

Campbell County approved a 3% contract increase for Elite Recycling (approx. $19,338) to cover recent service-cost pressures. The board also debated and deferred a staff proposal to buy waste-collection assets (estimated $475,000) for 60 days to gather more information on a longer-term waste strategy.

County staff told supervisors Elite Recycling requested a 3% increase to the existing multi-year hauling contract, which staff recommended to cover higher operating costs; staff also proposed a separate procurement of compactors and containers at an estimated $475,000 to reduce future vendor dependence. "At this time, staff is recommending that we provide Elite with the addition with 3% increase of $19,338.48," staff said.
