Staff outlines comprehensive‑plan chapter updates and proposed density changes

County staff said the Code of Virginia requires a five‑year comprehensive plan review and proposed increasing density along parts of Pepper Bridal Road and the Brookneal Election District, recommending a transition designation to guide growth; staff plans to bring chapter updates to the planning commission over the coming months.

Campbell County staff reminded the joint bodies that the Code of Virginia requires comprehensive plans to be reviewed at least every five years and said the county’s last review was completed in 2022. Staff told the planning commission they will bring proposed chapter updates individually to solicit public feedback and aim to have proposed changes before the board in early 2027.
