Wise County thanks staff, issues overnight freeze warning after ice storm

Cody Powell of the Office of Emergency Management delivered the National Weather Service spot forecast, stating temperatures were expected “to refreeze by 8 p.m., stay below freezing overnight, [and] rise above freezing after 8 a.m. Friday, January 30th.”
The court’s discussion emphasized coordination across precincts and partner agencies to prioritize clearing and public safety. Judge Clark and commissioners encouraged residents to avoid travel unless necessary until roads have thawed and crews have progressed on Tier 2–4 routes.
