New Wise County Emergency Services District No. 4 board named; staggered terms set

Judge J.D. Clark explained that the proposed Wise County Emergency Services District No. 4 will include Alvord, Chico, Crafton and Sand Flat fire departments and the cities of Alvord and Chico. A nominating committee composed of local officials and fire chiefs screened 24 applicants, interviewed 10, and recommended one resident from each district plus an at-large member.
The Court appointed the following initial commissioners: John Yovonovich (Alvord) to a two-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2028; Jimmy Counts (Chico) to a one-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2027; Tim Raley (Crafton) to a two-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2028; Michelle Craighead (Sand Flat) to a two-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2028; and Monty Nivens (at-large) to a one-year term expiring Jan. 1, 2027. Michelle Craighead and other committee participants were thanked; Heather Redder, identified as Alvord Fire Chief, thanked the nominating committee by name.
