Ray Cameron described operational steps he used to drive efficiency and engagement in prior roles: risk-assessment tools, triage of caseloads, enhanced data systems and a kiosk system for low-risk clients to report without staff intervention. "We implemented best practices, risk assessment tools ... and we also created a kiosk for our low risk clients," Cameron said.
He said the approach freed staff time for higher-need clients, improved data visibility for leadership and allowed better connection of clients to services. Cameron discussed mapping high-crime areas with hospital partners to catch incidents that go unreported and using culturally responsive providers and credible messengers to improve engagement and reduce recidivism.
Commissioners asked about multi-jurisdiction coordination and specific outcomes; Cameron pointed to database restructuring and stakeholder task forces that created shared milestones and accountability. The court heard similar technical and programmatic examples from other finalists and deferred hiring to executive session.
