The Board of County Commissioners of Russell County on Jan. 5, 2026 adopted Resolution 2026-2 proclaiming a State of Local Disaster Emergency for the county in response to grass fires on Dec. 18, 2025. Emergency Manager David Elliott presented a written declaration and the board approved the resolution unanimously.
