Corey Meitl, Pawnee County Solid Waste Supervisor, told commissioners the landfill currently lacks room for additional construction and demolition (C&D) material because the loader is out of service and is expected to remain down for about a week.
Meitl presented bids for new and used roll-off containers and said he saw used containers on Purplewave that he would like to inspect. The board discussed hauling a metal pile offsite using roll-offs, purchasing Bobcat tires for landfill equipment and seeking a tire quote from the Rozel Co-op. Commissioners advised Meitl to coordinate with Road & Bridge head Kurt Demel about compacting the C&D pit rather than closing it.
Meitl’s report left the immediate problem as operational — a downed loader — with procurement and interdepartmental coordination identified as the next steps. No purchase decision was recorded in the minutes; commissioners provided direction to pursue vendor quotes and interdepartmental assistance.
