Mr. Gilchrist summarized the recommendation, saying the curriculum aligns with Virginia’s Standards of Learning and the division's 5E instructional model; every student will receive a hard-copy text and every teacher will be supplied with a hands-on investigation kit.
Ms. Lynn moved to approve the recommended elementary science textbook adoption and Dr. Shelp seconded; the motion passed by voice vote with no recorded objections. Staff said materials will be available in July and that nine summer training sessions are scheduled so teachers are prepared for implementation in August.
