Northeast Kansas Environmental Services Health Specialist and Solid Waste Coordinator Martha Smith told the Doniphan County commissioners that Third District Road Foreman Chris Schultz recently contacted her about shingles dumped in the closed construction and demolition (CD) pit at the Third District road shop. "The shingles will be removed and taken to the transfer station with Doniphan County responsible for disposal costs," Smith said.
Smith recommended the gate to the CD pit be closed for monitoring to prevent future dumping. Commissioners did not record a separate vote on enforcement steps during the meeting but noted the county would absorb disposal costs for the material and that the matter would be handled through county solid-waste operations.
